I have been working as a freelance web designer for a year now, enjoying the freedom - it's hard work, but that's ok, because I enjoy it!
I have done a number of solo projects, but have also worked on some projects with other companies building flash movies or coding standards-compliant valid XHTML/CSS.

Solo Projects

Here are some of the projects that I have designed and built myself:

Sms Direct Property

This is the site for Sky High Network's SMS based property service. It's an on-going project that hopes to ease the pain of looking for property through use of SMS and MMS systems. You can search for residential properties such as houses, apartments, land, and rented abodes. You can also commercial properties like pubs, offices, shops, cafes, you name it!

You can also register and upload properties of your own, free of charge.

In the future this site will become a comprehensive resource for all things home related, including a directory of mortgage brokers, home insuance, home decoration, and legal services.

Sky High Networks

This is the portal site of the parent company of Sms Direct Property which is committed to simplifying the buying process for both the consumers and vendors.

At the moment Sms Direct Property is the only service that they run, but in the future they will be looking to expand into the Auto and Home shopping markets through the use of SMS messaging, which is the most commonly used communication tool in the world.

I wanted to keep this site simple and clean, as it is mainly an informational site about the company. As the company grows, so will the site.

Scudding Clouds

I built this Flash site for Dublin-based interior design specialists Scudding Clouds.

It's based in Flash but has an updateable XML content system, for ease of use.

iBbY Ireland

iBbY or the International Board on Books for Young People is a non-profit organisation, which promotes children's books at an international level. iBbY Ireland is the Irish section of this, and is there to promote the exchange of relevant expertise and knowledge relating to children's books, encourage the development of networks linking Ireland and other countries in the area of children's books, and act as an information resource in relation to children's books for all concerned.

I designed the informational portal for the orginisation and built a news content management sytem from the ground up

Work with Others

Here's some of the work I have done with others, specifically with Darling Design, and Lightbox Multimedia.

Hosting 365

I worked with Lightbox on this project for the largest hosting company in Ireland, Hosting365.

I built the XHTML/CSS templates, implemented a javascript clients slider, created their blog template for Wordpress, and looked after the content population.

NERA

I worked with Lightbox on the website for the National Employment Rights Authority, which gives information to emplpoyers and employees in Ireland.

Jolie

Jolie is a new drink which is a mix of sparkling white wine and Crème de Cassis de Dijon. Darling design needed someone to implement their design (they are primarily print Designers). We decided on Flash as a delivery medium, as it is a luxury product, with a sleek, sexy image.

As the site is for an alchoholic beverage there obviously needed to be an age verification system, and I also linked in a content management system to the flash, so that images and news could be updated easily.

Peter Evers Photography

I was called upon once again by Darling Design to help give functionality to another flash site, this time a redesign of the online portfolio of Peter Evers.

This was basically an image gallery based in flash. I used an xml file to load the images into flash, thus making it much easier to update than traditional image galleries. I have used a similar technique on my own photo gallery.
